Hunter Renfroe is headed to his fifth team in five seasons as the Los Angeles Angels acquired the outfielder from the Milwaukee Brewers in a trade on Tuesday.
The Brewers received right-handed pitchers Janson Junk and Elvis Peguero and minor league left-hander Adam Seminaris.
Renfroe, 30, hit 29 homers and drove in 72 runs while batting .255 with a .315 on-base percentage and a .492 slugging percentage in 125 games this year during his lone season with Milwaukee.
Excluding the pandemic-shortened 2020 season, he has hit more than 25 homers five years in row.
Renfroe was selected in the first round of the 2013 draft by the Padres, and he played in San Diego from 2016-19. He then joined the Tampa Bay Rays (2020), Boston Red Sox (2021) and Milwaukee (2022).
In 701 career games, Renfroe has a .240/.300/.490 batting line with 157 homers and 394 RBIs.
Renfroe, normally a right fielder, could end up a starter in the Los Angeles outfield along with Mike Trout and Taylor Ward. The Angels' primary left fielders near the end of the 2022 season, Jo Adell and Mickey Moniak, provided little offense.
Junk, 26, appeared briefly for the Angels in 2021 and '22, going a combined 1-2 with a 4.74 ERA in seven games (six starts).
Peguero, 25, also was a bit-part player for Los Angeles the past two games, compiling an 0-1 record and a 9.15 ERA in 16 relief outings.
Seminaris, 24, played in Class-A, Double-A and Triple-A in 2022, amassing a combined 7-11 record with a 3.54 ERA in 24 games (21 starts).
