Dane Goodwin scored 21 points, Juwan Durham registered a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds, and Notre Dame earned its first Atlantic Coast Conference victory of the season with an 80-70 win over Boston College on Saturday afternoon in South Bend, Ind.
Nate Laszewski scored 16 points for the Fighting Irish, and Prentiss Hubb finished with 13 points and 10 assists. Notre Dame (4-8, 1-5 ACC) snapped a four-game losing streak in its first home game since Dec. 30.
Steffon Mitchell notched a double-double in defeat with 16 points and 13 rebounds. Jay Heath and Wynston Tabbs had 14 points apiece for Boston College (3-10, 1-6), which lost for the fifth time in its past six games.
Boston College trailed for the entire second half, and its deficit was never smaller than six points.
After a pair of free throws by Mitchell got the Eagles within 50-44 with 15:28 remaining, Notre Dame went on a 13-2 run to go ahead by 17 points with 12:06 to play. A jump shot by Cormac Ryan made it 63-46.
Boston College again clawed back within six points thanks to its own 13-2 run. A layup by Tabbs made it 65-59 with 6:45 left.
The Fighting Irish regrouped, increasing their lead to 77-61 after Goodwin made a layup with 3:32 to go. The shot gave Goodwin eight points within a span of 2:10 to help subdue the Eagles once and for all.
Notre Dame built a 42-32 lead at the half. Laszewski led the Fighting Irish with 12 points at the break, while Durham had eight.
Mitchell was Boston College's top scorer before halftime with nine points.
The Fighting Irish went on a 17-3 run early in the first half to grab a 19-7 lead. Durham started the scoring run with a layup, and Laszewski kept it going with a 3-pointer followed by a jump shot.
Boston College responded with a 17-6 run to pull back within 25-24 with 5:24 remaining in the first half.
Notre Dame regained a double-digit lead on a 3-pointer by Ryan with 1:42 before intermission.
