TopStar Communications Company Limited, a terrestrial pay-tv service which is a joint venture between China's StarTimes and Zambia's state broadcaster said that it was open to initiatives aimed at providing television services to all parts of Zambia.
LUSAKA, Jan. 15 (Xinhua) -- TopStar Communications Company Limited, a terrestrial pay-tv service which is a joint venture between China's StarTimes and Zambia's state broadcaster said that it was open to initiatives aimed at providing television services to all parts of Zambia.
TopStar acting Chief Executive Officer John Zhuang said on Thursday the firm was open to initiatives that will push the agenda of reaching many Zambian households in order for them to access local content relevant to the communities.
Speaking when the firm signed a partnership with Loyola Television to be a digital carrier as a public signal distributor, the official said TopStar has the mandate to ensure all Zambians have access to information through affordable digital television.

He said the partnership will give opportunity to many Zambians to access affordable and quality programs on their digital platform.
Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Services Permanent Secretary Amos Malupenga said the partnership was in line with government's policy to ensure all Zambians have access to information.
According to him, about 6 million Zambians will be reached under the partnership, adding that access to information in the country was growing as a result of government's policy to facilitate for opening of various digital platforms.
Meanwhile, Loyola Television Director Patrick Mulemi said the television station has developed powerful programs to meet the quest for information and entertainment.
